Winchester, the place to be!
Winchester, a charming city, an hour south west of London, turned out to be the perfect place for a language week for our 6C students.
Their host families did everything to make them feel at home and I got such excellent feedback from them saying they had been a delight to be with! Thus they spent most evenings with their families talking to them, playing with their children and in one case even cooking Wiener Schnitzel and Kaiserschmarren for them!
On weekdays their project work was split up into classwork and fieldwork which meant doing interviews, assessing them and preparing for their presentations on the last day. They all said they enjoyed talking to people in the streets and they all considered their work interesting and good fun.
Of course there was time for real fun, too. We all went bowling once, made a trip tot he coast, went to the cinema and had a full day in London. We went on a river cruise on the Thames marvelling at the most important sights. We even found some time for shopping!
The real west end musical „Billy Elliot“ turned out to be the highlight of the week as the performance of the actors was outstanding.
Trying genuine English „Cream Tea“ and having „Jacket Potatoes“ at a traditional English pub made our trip complete and we all felt we had had a fabulous time!
